The Sri Dhanvantari Swamy Temple in Chintaluru holds a unique place in India’s spiritual and Ayurvedic heritage. It is the only temple in Andhra Pradesh exclusively dedicated to Lord Dhanvantari, the incarnation of Lord Vishnu, revered as the Divine Physician of the Devas (Gods) and the God of Ayurveda. This rare distinction makes the temple one of the very few dedicated Dhanvantari temples in India.
According to Hindu tradition, Lord Dhanvantari emerged during the Samudra Manthan (Churning of the Ocean of Milk), carrying the sacred pot of Amrita, the nectar of immortality. He is worshipped as the originator of Ayurveda and symbolizes health, healing, longevity, and holistic well-being.
Recognizing the importance of preserving this ancient healing tradition, Vaidyaraj Dwibhashyam Venkateswarlu, a distinguished Ayurvedic physician and scholar, built and consecrated the Sri Dhanvantari Swamy Temple in 1942. His vision was to establish a sacred space where spirituality and Ayurveda could coexist, inspiring generations to embrace the timeless principles of natural healing and healthy living.
Today, the temple stands as a symbol of Chintaluru’s rich Ayurvedic legacy. A Symbol of Compassion and Community
Established in 2016, the Goparandham Goshala & Annadanam Trust is one of Chintaluru’s cherished community institutions. What began with just four cows has grown into a well-maintained Goshala that now provides care and shelter for more than 38 cows. Managed by Bharani Garu, the Goshala reflects the village’s commitment to compassion, service, and preserving India’s cultural traditions.
In Indian culture, the cow (Gomata) is revered as a symbol of nourishment, prosperity, and harmony. The Goshala continues this tradition by providing a safe home for cows while promoting the values of Goseva (service to cows) and Annadanam (the offering of food). Visitors often participate in Go Pooja during festivals, birthdays, anniversaries, and other special occasions, making the Goshala an important part of Chintaluru’s spiritual and community life.
